sent a note to you but i'll throw it out there for "all" to review. I'm thinking about joining lakeland in hopes of encouraging myself to play regularly. Looking at their partial membership but i don't have the details as to what that entails. Wish this was a very popular thread where i might encounter someone who knows whether or not this would be a good deal, but i guess this is just being put out there for the hell of it.

i feel odd, sort of grown up thing to do, joining a golf club. Am i like 50? if i tell them i'm a trucker and not a buisines guy will they still let me join? Will I be forced to bring clients to the course and close million dollar deals? oh wait i have no million dollar deals to close, maybe i can open them there?

I think sugar isles membership is almost 600 bucks... but partial will make a difference. I wish I had a couple bucks and lived closer.

turns out that "partial" really isn't a great deal. pretty much amounts to a good discount. I'd have to play 20 full rounds or 40 nine holes to break even, doubt i'd be able to make that work with the long hours i put in so???  guess i'm still thinking about it, but i doubt i'll actually do it

that's a lot of golf... doable but a lot of golf. Any free time would be spent golfing... Not a horrible problem to have but understandable.

golfed again yesterday at lakeland, unfourtunatly i didn't do near as well. I played a full 18 and shot like 20 over booo. oh well i still had fun and did have atleast a few good shots. the  best news is that they gave us a huge discount!! they charged us the walking weekday fee for 18 and gave us a cart free!!!! so go there!!!

just finished playing nine holes at Lakeland and despite the wind i shot 45!!!!  the best i've ever played take note that this score doesn't include aprox 5 mulligans and 3-4 drops for lost balls. I like playing by myself, less pressure but no help finding those arrant balls.

been doing well making sure i play at least once a week and hope to keep it up all season long!

the sad part is that i don't consider that "LOADS" of cheating it's a significant cut back from my normal amount of "cheating". mulligans are just a learning experience

Golf ; great game; used to play it before I did in my hip with a snowshoe mishap...yes....snowshoes. Slid down icy hill backwards for 30 feet; and unintentionally did the splits at the bottom. Killed my day,and eventually my career. sorry....mind wandered to past crap. Golf is a test of man's nerves, skill, and patience; and it is damn fun to do when you are drunk.
 When I was in Germany; playing on the Base golf course (my father was stationed in Germany in the late 70's early 80's); the thing we had to contend with CF-101B Voodoo's taking off at the airstrip for the base; which ran parallel to the golf course. I really screwed up a lot of swings because of that. Because of the jets; we could enjoy the favourite Germany form of Humour;  Shottenfreuden (getting humour from the misfortune of others).
In the clubhouse; we had a view of the tee-off for the first hole. Occasionally you would see someone's swing be destroyed by a jet taking off; and a lost ball was usually the result.
Most of all, golf is a thinking game.

I had an opportunity, back in the day, to play a lot of free golf, and I couldn't keep from getting too frustrated to play, it was one of those "I could have been really good" kind of deals.
